The harder you try, the more it hides

Hi Reader

The first Episode of The Body Already Does The Impossible was fantastic, not because everyone believed but rather because people were honest about their doubts. If you missed it, there is still time to watch the replay before Episode 2, Tomorrow at 1 PM.

Here's the most counterintuitive thing in this whole series, and we're getting it out of the way early: the harder you grip for a result, the more reliably you block the state where results live.

Think about falling asleep. The more fiercely you try, the more awake you get. Trying is the problem. The same is true for nearly everything we're going to play with, which is why this week, we're not touching a single molecule. We're going to learn the difference between two states instead: the effortful clench of reaching, and the open quiet of receiving. Most of us have lived in the first our whole lives and barely met the second.

That's it. No performance, nothing to achieve. Just feeling the difference between gripping and letting go, because everything in the weeks ahead walks through that second door, and you can't force a door that only opens when you stop pushing.

Bring the doubt, bring the curiosity, bring nothing in particular. All three are welcome.

See you there,

Jeff

P.S. — If you catch yourself wondering "am I doing it right?" during the session, that wondering IS the reaching. Notice it, smile, let it go. That noticing is the whole skill.
