A Promise Walks Ahead of You

August opens a door twice this year. A new month, and with it a new year of these letters: Year Three of the Messages of ESS begins today. Fitting, then, that the Message waiting for us is the very energy of beginnings.

This month we walk with Divine Transition:

> "Transition is the natural course of all things, never to be feared but to be rejoiced. Take heart that transition is a purpose, another step along the journey. It is a step that is surrounded by Love. Let fear fall behind with each step of transition. Promises have been made and promises made are kept. Trust your journey. Take this message and let it ease your transition."

Notice the word the Message chooses. Not endured. Not survived. Not managed with white knuckles and a well-organized calendar. Rejoiced.

That is a bold word to stand beside a threshold, and the Message stands there without flinching. It can afford to, because it knows something fear forgets: transitions are not interruptions of the journey. They are the journey. The seasons do it. Rivers do it. Your own breath has been doing it since the moment you arrived, one small letting go roughly every four seconds, no applause required. You are, by now, extraordinarily well practiced.

And there is this, which we will return to before the month is out: somewhere ahead of you, a promise is already being kept.

Hold that line lightly. It will explain itself in time. For now, a simple beginning: name one transition currently underway in your life. Large or small, invited or uninvited. Do not solve it. Just greet it, the way you would greet a travelling companion, because that is what it is.

The step you are standing on is surrounded by Love. So is the next one.
